On Friday we launched our new website, which houses all of our published content from Installation Magazine as well as special coverage available only on the web. As an archive of emerging, mid-career, and creative arts artists, InstallationMag.com is organized by our six editorial departments: Emerge, Discover, Collect, Evolve, Install, and Vanguard. Each offer a unique collection of features pertaining to their core message. Emerge features emerging artists and creatives who may be young in their process but have achieved incredible success in communicating their vision. Discover partners with craftsman and artisans to dissect their process and invites our readers to engage more deeply with in-depth coverage. Collect presents actual collections of work currently available for purchase either by a gallery or online collection. Evolve is a hybrid department offering tools that can help shape the artistic process; from fashion and design to technology and traditional brushes. Install travels the globe looking for unique public, site-specific installations of art, design and architecture – told by the curator or artist and includes the public response through social media. While these five editorial departments make up the core of Installation, Vanguard is our premiere department bringing recognition to people offering innovation in their practice.
Our original logo, a stamp-like bold rectangle, has changed to a minimalist solid box. Strong in its stance, the new Installation logo offers flexibility of presentation as you’ll see throughout the site when you visit our several departments. Ranging from its standard black fill, the logo can present rich color including red, magenta, purple, blue, and green to better represent the colorful works we feature daily while also keeping a clean and modern presentation. This journal or blog features an orange version of the Installation logo, while our iPad and iPhone magazine (avail. on the Apple Newsstand) offers a multi-faceted changing look issue to issue.
As you browse, we’ve introduced a new secondary menu that holds a simple navigation box. Hover over the Installation logo, and 6 color bars appear. Select any color bar and visit the connected category or take advantage of the social share options to help spread the word about your favorite features. Built within every article, is a comment section that we hope you will use to publish your voice with opinions, criticism and praise.
As our new site is in its first steps, please let us know your thoughts and ideas and we’ll make sure to listen! info@installationmag.com or via Twitter: @installationmag.
