Based in Los Angeles, Bartholomew Cooke stands out from the other 20+20 contributors because he works exclusively with product.  Through careful manipulation and great attention to detail, Cooke transforms lifeless static objects into 3-Dimensional objects that jump off the page.

Why did you decide to pursue your practice on the West Coast?

I attended Art Center College of Design in neighboring Pasadena, and because I was busy working fairly soon after graduating, moving to New York never fully seemed to make sense.  My family is here in Los Angeles, which is also an important factor for why I choose to live in LA.

Why not New York?

I love New York.  I love working there, and relish the time I spend there doing so, but I very much enjoy being based in LA.

What do you find most distracting about your urban environment?

Los Angeles is actually a fairly easy city to focus in.  I think it’s easier to create a space to work in here, and the potential distractions are less apparent.

The light here is singularly beautiful.  There are cities within this city, which provides endless variety and opportunities to explore.

What do you find most appealing about New York?
