VOLTA10 / BOOTH #B13

CAMILØ ÁLVÅREZ

Owner/Director/Curator/Preparator

Reflecting on your time in Basel, what was your experience at VOLTA10?

I enjoyed VOLTA10. It was the gallery’s decade anniversary as well so it felt right to participate and celebrate.

What was your overall experience presenting the work to an international audience?

Samsøñ has participated in VOLTA before and once before in the Markthalle, a beautiful and airy venue ripe for VOLTA. Basel is serious and scholarly, slightly similar to Boston in that regard, a center where many people meet to share.

What was the curatorial decision that guided the selection of artists presented at your booth?

The attempt at thought and beauty is sought through a relishing in the differences of opinions. The character of the artist is subsumed in reverence of the viewers’ need to not feel they need to understand.  There is no common denominator and that is just fucking fine.
